Sing at the Top of your Lungs

One morning this summer at about 4 am I woke to the sound of singing outside my window. The first thing I thought was who the hell is that, and the second was why are they outside at 4am. So I lay there for a minute listening to the completely off key, somewhat hideous singing only to realize it was one of my younger brothers. So I sit there in my bed for a while listening and laughing half to death. After sometime, I got to thinking wow he's just sitting out there having a smoke singing at the top of his lungs without a care in the world at 4am, ha. I made a mental note to try it sometime despite my equally as disturbing singing abilities.

I go on walks a lot, especially since I recently got a new puppy when this idea popped back into my head. So I'm walking along with my headphones in and puppy in hand when boom it hit me, I start belting out You never met a motherfucker quite like me by Kid Rock. Yes I know, a little inappropriate to be singing in a kid friendly neighborhood and quite loud at that, but I just couldn't help myself. Moments later some joggers happen to pass me, I'm sure wondering what the heck this crazy girl was doing yelling out obscene language with a little bounce in her step and busting a move every 5o feet or so. At first I was embarrassed, probably blushed a bit, and then realized they had no idea who I was, and I probably gave them quite a laugh and a little story to tell their friends later.

Needless to say, It was quite an exhilarating experience which now occurs quite often in my life and I have my brother to thank for it. Every so often I think everyone should try it, with no inhibition, no care in the world,  just sing at the top of your lungs (even if your voice isn't the greatest, it doesn't matter)

My suggestion: Go belt out your favorite song while on a walk or run, standing on the top of your roof, walking through a park or where ever need be. I guarantee you will feel better after with less stress and more confidence to be who you are. So why not? What are you waiting for?
