Appreciate the small things

My family went to Sunday brunch at a neat little Cafe a couple of weeks ago.  I ordered a cup of hot tea and when it was brought out I was absolutely incredulous of the cup it came in. A normal mug with the words tea written all over in two different colors. I don't know why this happen to catch my attention but I became obsessive about it and began to count how many times the words tea was written and this is what I came up with:

TEA is written 665 times total
175 TEAs of which are dark brown
490 TEAs are faded brown
Leaving 26.3% of the words on the mug to be dark brown
There are 1,995 total letters on the mug
525 of these are dark brown letters
1, 470 are faded brown letters

Mind you I was rather hyper that day, and being the peculiar person that I am I found this quite intriguing while the rest of my family did not. (after about the third thing I came up with)

Also on this same occasion, my mom had ordered hot tea and hers came in an equally enthralling mug, which immediately took my mind back to my childhood days when I recalled the notorious "Boat Bowl" my three brothers and I would fight for everyday to have our cereal or soup out of.

What I learned from this experience was that sometimes, in life you have to take a closer look because vast enjoyment can be found from even the smallest of things. The objects that we use everyday hold more of an importance than we give them credit for. So, I encourage that we not forget to appreciate them (whether it be a mug, a pan, a blender, an oven, a grill, or even a computer) for what they do for us on a day to day basis because they make our everyday actions that much more simple.
